Songs For The Small Places

Released January 26th 2024, Songs for the Small Places has received widespread critical acclaim. The songs were originally written nearly 30 years ago at the time when Giant Killers were signed to MCA. It has been described as a ‘long overdue gem’ by Louder Than War, and has been universally acknowledged as a work that is of its time but of timeless appeal. We think Giant Killers’ melodic songs with their gritty lyrics and guitar sounds layered with old school synth riffs will resonate with music fans of all generations.

At least £2 of every sale through Bandcamp will go to the suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably.

A long overdue gem… they have the raconteur’s knack of painting pictures in the mind of the listener which are no less vivid for all the intervening years since the words were first written. Giant Killers are doing their bit to make all our lives a little happier.

About Giant Killers

The indie-pop band are song writing duo Jamie Wortley (guitar, keys, lead vocals) and Michael Brown (bass, keys, brass, vocals). They were signed to MCA Records in 1995 where they released two singles, however the album never saw the light of day. After a momentous 3 decades long struggle the band got their rights back and their songs have finally been getting a chance to shine with Little Genius.

Giant Killers opened for Blur on their Country House tour (Blur actually nicked their original keyboard player after one of the shows on Cleethorpes Pier) and toured with Dr Robert (Blow Monkeys) and Nick Heyward. They appeared on C4’s The Big Breakfast, performed live on the Patrick Kielty TV show, and were once mistaken for Boyzone after their label accidentally sent them a limo to take them to a promo appearance for Capital Radio.

Giant Killers have remained gigging musicians and in other musical projects. Over a wide history they’ve played Glastonbury, at Proms in the Park in Hyde Park opening for Lionel Richie, toured with Squeeze and in support of Motown legend Edwin Starr. They were even once given away as a sticker in Smash Hits.

The world has been worse off this last quarter century by not having these deftly crafted indie gems in mass circulation.
